TwntyApps Gift Card Balance - Privacy Policy
TwntyApps operates the TwntyApps Gift Card Balance app for Shopify merchants. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect data when merchants install and use our app.
Information We Collect
When a merchant installs the app, we may collect and store:
- Shop domain and store identification details
- App installation and billing status
- App settings configured by the merchant
- Shopify access tokens required to operate the app
- Gift card metadata provided by Shopify, including masked gift card code ending, balance, initial value, currency, status, creation date, expiry date, and related customer or recipient information when available
- Customer identifiers and customer names when required to show gift cards to logged-in customers
- Usage activity such as balance checks, gift card page views, successful lookups, and email resend actions
We do not collect or store complete Shopify gift card codes. Shopify does not expose complete gift card codes through the API.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Sync gift card information from Shopify
- Display masked gift card details and balances to merchants
- Allow customers to check gift card balances
- Show linked gift cards to logged-in customers
- Trigger native gift card email resends when enabled by the merchant and supported by the merchant’s plan
- Provide app settings, billing, diagnostics, and customer usage reporting
- Maintain app security and prevent unauthorized access
Customer Data
The app may process limited customer data, such as customer ID, name, and related gift card information, only when needed to provide gift card balance and customer account features.
We do not sell customer personal data.
Gift Card Codes
The app does not receive, store, or display full gift card codes. Only masked identifiers, such as the last characters of a gift card code, may be stored or displayed.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We may share data only with service providers necessary to operate the app, such as hosting, database, logging, and infrastructure providers.
Data may also be shared when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights and security of our app, merchants, or customers.
Data Storage and Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect stored data, including secure hosting, HTTPS, restricted access, and encrypted transmission where applicable.
Access to merchant and customer data is limited to authorized systems and personnel who need it to operate or support the app.
Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
When a merchant uninstalls the app, we may delete or anonymize store-related app data within a reasonable period, unless retention is required for legal, billing, or security purposes.
Merchant Controls
Merchants can configure app features from the app settings page, including whether customer-facing balance, activity, and email resend features are enabled.
Merchants may request deletion of their app data by contacting us.
GDPR and Shopify Data Requests
We respond to Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks, including customer data requests, customer redact requests, and shop redact requests, where applicable.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted with a new effective date.
